Celebrate at our 2026 Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award Banquet on Oct. 28 at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta.

We'll honor longtime Atlanta Journal-Constitution legal affairs reporter Bill Rankin with the foundation's 2026 Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award. Rankin's print and podcast stories educated Georgians on the importance of transparency our courtrooms and criminal justice systems. He will give the keynote speech at the banquet.

Join us, too, as we commemorate the public-interest impact of the UGA School of Law's First Amendment Clinic, whose staff and students will be recognized as Open Government Heroes.

Finally, we'll toast the Georgia First Amendment Foundation's three-plus decades of critical work protecting and expanding Georgians' right to know. And we'll consider challenges and opportunities ahead for 2027 and beyond.
